Anthony Hamilton releasing next album soon

Riding high off the success of his current album, “The Point of It All,” which debuted at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, Anthony Hamilton is already planning for his fifth studio release.

“I may put out another one before the end of this year, or the top of (2010),” the North Carolina-born R&B singer told Billboard.com. “I’ve got at least 10, 12 songs, but I’m gonna do maybe 12 more and go from there.”

“It’s gonna be a blues, country, soul, rock kind of album on the next one,” he explains. “I want to do something different. I may do some orchestrated stuff. I’m not afraid of it. I have a fan base that loves me enough to trust that I’m giving them. That’s a great place to be.”

Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx kiss

There was a lot of butt and crotch grabbing going on while Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx shared a very intimate kiss during Spike TV’s “Guy Choice Awards,” which will air late June.  Foxx presented Berry with the “Decade of Hotness” award.

New Sade album coming soon

It has been nine years since singer Sade released her last album, “Lover’s Rock.”  Now, comes word that the singer is gearing up for a late 2009 album release.

“She is in the studio and the album will come when it is ready,” a source at Sony tells Billboard. “You don’t wait for years for one and then rush it.”

Dr. Dre premieres ‘Detox’ in new ad

Dr. Dre introduces some of the music from his long awaited “Detox” album in a new Dr. Pepper commercial, which begins airing Monday, June 1.

Chris Brown speaks out

In a recent video blog post, singer Chris Brown states that he “ain’t a monster” and thanks his supporters. Brown faces felony assault and criminal threat charges after allegedly beating up his girlfriend Rihanna in March.

The 20-year-old is working on a new album,”Graffiti,” which should be released late summer.

Mariah paid $1.5 million for Turkey hotel opening

Mariah Carey and her hubby Nick Cannon are celebrating Memorial Day weekend in Turkey.  The singer is getting paid $1.5 million to perform at the opening of Marden Palace Hotel in Antalya.  The New York Post stated that it is “Europe’s most expensive hotel,”

Natalie Cole gains kidney but loses sister

 

Natalie Cole, who suffers from hepatitis C that she acquired from a previous drug addiction, recently received a liver transplant.  Before the surgery, she was going to kidney dialysis three times a week.  Her older sister Carol “Cookie” Cole, whose hospital bedside the singer reluctantly left to receive the transplant, died while the artist was undergoing surgery.  

“Our sister Cookie hadn’t been to a doctor in 30 years, and last week she went in and they found a cancerous spot on her lung,” younger sister Timolin Cole told Page Six yesterday.  “They had wanted to start chemo right away, but Cookie said no.”

The singer’s surgery was successful and she recovered at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She went home Sunday.

Commodores reunion planned

The R&B group that created such hits as “Lady,” “Brick House” and “Nightshift” are planning to reunite soon, said Lionel Richie.  

“It’s the No. 1 question we get,” Richie told Billboard. “I can honestly tell you before the end of the year, for sure, you’ll hear a rumble. I think now might be the proper time.”
