Sunny days are few and far between on Sesame Street nowadays. Sesame Workshop, which produces the Sesame Street children series, is laying off 20 percent of its employees.
“After careful review, we have concluded that we will have to operate with fewer resources in order to achieve our strategic priorities,” the organization stated in a press release about cutting 67 of its 355 staff positions. “[We are] not immune to the unprecedented challenges of today’s economic environment.”

I hope this isn’t a permanent situation, and that maybe those being laid off will be able to recoup their jobs after the stimulus benefits begin circulating. Poor Big Bird!
My son loves Big Bird and it would be sad to see him go. We are already crying at the mere thought of the layoffs. Pres. Obama please save Sesame Street, I do believe the Limbaugh fanactics will even agree to this one!
