Ludacris gives away cars
Christmas came early this year for several Atlanta residents when rapper Ludacris and a local dealership gave away 20 used cars to needy drivers. About 4,000 participants submitted a 300-word essay about why they needed a car to the Ludacris Foundation.

In his first interview since the domestic violence incident with Rihanna, Chris Brown recently sat down with Larry King to share his views. On Aug. 25, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and received five years probation.
The interview will air on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
Kim Kardashian Goes Goth
No, it is not Marilyn Manson. “Keeping up with the Kardashians” star Kim Kardashian went goth for a recent photo shoot for YRB magazine. The reality star stated on her website:
I really love the transformation and the clothes were amazing!!! This has got to be one of the most unique shoots I’ve ever done! Not sure I’ll ever go for a permanent short cut, but it definitely works for this shoot.
American Idol returns to Chicago
The nation’s no. 1 show returns to Chicago Monday and Tuesday to continue auditions. “American Idol” previously visited the Windy City this past June. Filling in for ex-judge Paula Abdul will be country singer Shania Twain. The reality competition series will premiere in January.
Couple Tempestt Bledsoe and Darryl Bell in ‘Househusbands of Hollywood’
Did anyone know that former “Cosby Show” star Tempestt Bledsoe and “A Different World” actor Darryl Bell have been together for 16 years? The couple are cast members of the new Fox Reality Channel series, “Househusbands of Hollywood,” which began Aug. 15.
The show focuses on the lives of stay-at-home husbands. The cast includes former Los Angeles Dodger Billy Ashley, whose wife is a celebrity makeup artist and former Marine sniper Grant Reynolds, who is married to FOX 11 morning news show host Jillian Reynolds.
“I think the thing that most people will be surprised about is that we are on the show,” said Bledsoe, who is a Chicago native. “Not only do we not talk about our private life, we don’t do this type of show. We don’t fit into the mold of show, so I constantly get that question. I hope people will get past the title and see what these men are doing: pursuing their careers, taking care of their children. I have nothing but respect for that.”

The Rock works to fight diabetes
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is encouraging families to become more active in order to combat diabetes, reports People. The action star and former pro wrestler is the new national ambassador for the Diabetes Aware campaign, which hopes to reach the 24 million Americans with the disease.
“I want to encourage families to be active and eat right,” says Johnson, who is dad to 8-year-old daughter Simone Alexander. “Small steps can go a long way in managing diabetes, its complications, and raising healthy, active children.”
Jennifer Hudson has a baby boy
On Monday, Jennifer Hudson and her fiance David Otunga welcomed their 7 lbs., 14 oz. son, David Daniel Otunga, Jr.
“The baby is beautiful and perfect,” said Hudson’s rep Lisa Kasteler to People magazine. “His parents are ecstatic.”

Oprah checked in with BFF Gayle King’s radio show to discuss her interview this past weekend with Jay-Z for an upcoming issue of O Magazine. The two visited the rapper’s childhood home of Marcy Projects in Brooklyn, NY.
“He was so charming and delightful, and he smelled so good,” Winfrey said. “And it’s that kind of thing where you hug a guy, and the scent is sort of buried in them. When we went to the second location, I could still smell him on me. It was like, ‘Oh, this is wonderful.’ “
