It’s official! Ellen DeGeneres will be the permanent replacement for Paula Abdul as a judge on American Idol. She will join other judges Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson once the auditions are complete. The talk show host will also continue her day job.
“Hopefully I’m the people’s point of view, because I’m just like you,” DeGeneres said on her talk show Wednesday. “I sit at home and I watch it…I’m not looking at it in a critical way, from the music producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who’s going to buy the music, and who’s going to relate to that person. So I’m hopefully going to be the voice of what we’re all doing at home.”
Tisha Campbell-Martin and her husband Duane welcomed their son Ezekiel Czar Martin Tuesday. The 9lbs, 9 oz baby wasn’t expected until later this month, reports People. The couple have a eight-year-old son, Xen.

In his first interview since the domestic violence incident with Rihanna, Chris Brown recently sat down with Larry King to share his views. On Aug. 25, Brown pleaded guilty to felony assault and received five years probation.
The interview will air on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
The day Sherri Shepherd has been waiting for arrived Thursday when the “The View” co-host revealed her new figure. Since May, the 42-year-old dieted and exercised to get ready for the big reveal. Although she didn’t reveal how much weight she lost, Shepherd did say she lost 5 inches from her waist and 10 inches overall.
Gabrielle Union will be back on the small screen this fall. She will star in ABC’s new fall drama,”FlashForward,” which focuses on how mankind responds when they are able to see their future. Union will play criminal defense attorney, Zoey.
“We’re thrilled that Gabrielle is joining our cast,” executive producer David S. Goyer said in a statement. “When we met with her, we immediately knew she was our Zoey. She’s witty, soulful and beautiful. I’ve been wanting to work with her for a long time.”
The hour-long series premieres Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. central time.
NeNe, Lisa, Kim and Sheree are back! On July 30, the second season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta returns to the Bravo network. This time around former member of the girl R&B group Xscape, Kandi Burruss, will replace original housewife DeShawn Snow. Kandi is friends with housewife Lisa.
The second season will feature Sheree’s new fashion line, Kim dealing with her breakup from “Big Poppa” and NeNe’s new self-help book for women.
Golden Brooks, star of defunct TV show Girlfriends, is expecting a child that is due in September, reports People magazine. Since 2008, Brooks has dated actor D.B. Woodside, 39, who is starring in the TNT series, Hawthorne, alongside actress Jada Pinkett Smith. The 38-year-old actress recently completed the independent film Polish Bar.
