Winnie Mandela is no fan of biopic starring Jennifer Hudson

Winnie Mandela, ex-wife of South African leader Nelson Mandela, is not pleased about how she is being portrayed in the upcoming biopic, “Winnie.”  Mandela’s lawyers call the film a “character assassination.”  Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson and Terrence Howard will star in the movie, which begins a more than two-month shoot starring May 31.
 
Hudson revealed her new figure at the Cannes Film Festival while promoting the film.  She recently became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers.

Jennifer Hudson to sing at NCAA basketball championship

Grammy and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson will perform “One Shining Moment, which is the song that plays annually at the end  of the NCAA men’s basketball championship game.  The tune by folk singer David Barrett has been a March Madness staple since 1987 and is played over highlights of the tournament.  Hudson will be the first woman to sing it. Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross previously performed the song.
 
“The song inspires you,” Hudson said in a release. “It moves you. It motivates you and helps you reach that goal and that dream.”

Jennifer Hudson is the newest face to show off a milk mustache.  The Oscar and Grammy winner is featured in Got Milk? ads.
 
“[Milk] was definitely a part of my upbringing for sure,” says the proud mother, whose sophomore album is due this May. “I definitely want to have that on my kitchen table.”

Jennifer Hudson to play Winnie Mandela

Chicago’s favorite ‘Dreamgirl’, Jennifer Hudson, will begin production in South Africa May 30 on her new film “Winnie.”  The Oscar-winning actress will play the the former wife of South Africa’s first Black president, Nelson Mandela.  The wife, mother and activist was jailed for campaigning for her husband’s release and the end of apartheid.  She was later convicted of fraud.

“I was compelled and moved when I read the script,” Hudson told Variety. “Winnie Mandela is a complex and extraordinary woman and I’m honored to be the actress asked to portray her. This is a powerful part of history that should be told.”

New mom Jennifer Hudson is gushing over her nearly two month son, David Daniel Otunga, Jr.

“He’s the cutest thing in the world!” raved the Grammy-winning singer to People.  “There are no words for it. He’s the best. It’s just amazing – us discovering each other, me becoming a mom.”

Hudson said she is excited about sharing the holidays with her new son.

“It’s going to be ridiculous. I can’t wait,” she gushed. “His dad went and bought him some Halloween stuff the other night. I wish he was older so he could remember it, but this is the first one, so I have to go all out. It’s going to be great.”

On Monday, Jennifer Hudson and her fiance David Otunga welcomed their 7 lbs., 14 oz. son, David Daniel Otunga, Jr.

“The baby is beautiful and perfect,” said Hudson’s rep Lisa Kasteler to People magazine. “His parents are ecstatic.”
