This New Year’s Eve, partygoers in New York City and Las Vegas can get a free ride home from Diddy.  The musical artist is providing free cab and subway rides to revelers as part of his Safe Rides program, which he began last year.

“We made a huge impact last year helping New York get home safely, so I’m proud to announce that we’re bringing Safe Rides back in an even bigger way,” said Combs, who along with Ciroc Vodka provides the free transportation vouchers. “New York stands as the world’s icon for a New Year’s Eve celebration and Las Vegas is the biggest party destination in the country. By bringing this program to both of these great cities we will continue to show the rest of the country that a sophisticated holiday celebration doesn’t end when the ball drops, but when everyone gets home safely.”

Even though the country is in a recession, hip hop moguls continue to thrive.  Forbes announced Thursday the top 20 most successful hip hop artists within the last year.  Jay-Z toppled last year’s top earner 50 cent to claim the no.1 spot this year.  It is estimated that he earned $35 million from touring.  P.Diddy came in second with an estimated $30 million from his Sean John clothing line, Ciroc vodka partnership and MTV reality shows.  Kanye is no.3 with $25 million due to sales from his last album, touring and sneaker deals with Nike and Louis Vuitton.
