The Obamas celebrated Michelle’s 45th birthday Saturday on the train tour from Philadelphia to Washington D.C., reports People magazine. There was a surprise birthday party held onboard. On a stop in Wilmington, Del., the crowd serenaded birthday with the Happy Birthday song.

Obama named TIME’s Person of the Year; RuPaul Works It
President Elect Barack Obama was named Time’s Person of the Year “for having the confidence to sketch an ambitious future in a gloomy hour, and for showing the competence that makes Americans hopeful he might pull it off,” said the magazine.

Drag queen RuPaul dresses up both as the Barack and Michelle Obama for his holiday card. On Feb. 2, RuPaul’s Drag Race will premiere on MTV Network’s Logo channel. The reality show will crown America’s next drag queen superstar.

President- Elect Barack Obama and soon-to-be First Lady Michelle will be featured on a double cover of the January 2009 edition of Essence Magazine, which features a 56-page tribute commemorating this historic victory and what it means for Black America.

The Obamas Give Back and Sit Down with Barbara Walters
On Thanksgiving Eve, President Elect Barack Obama and family worked with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to distribute food at St. Columbanus at 7120 S. Calumet on the South Side. The Obamas said that they wanted to give their daughers, 10-year-old Malia and 7-year-old Sasha, “an understanding of what giving and Thanksgiving is all about,” said the Chicago Tribune.
Obama also went inside to wish the children at the St. Columbanus school a Happy Thanksgiving. Ahhh…sweet.
The Obamas’ interview with Barbara Walters also aired on Thanksgiving Eve. The couple discussed their upcoming administration and their move to Washington.
