Don Cheadle mistaken for a Ladies Man

Don Cheadle, star of the upcoming movie “Brooklyn’s Finest,” recently stopped by the The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Cheadle said people often think he is former “Saturday Night Live” cast member  and star of the 2000 film, “The Ladies Man,” Tim Meadows.
 
“I was on a plane and a flight attendant came over and gave me a couple of bottles of Courvosier,” he said.  “I said, ‘What is that?’  She said, ‘Ladies Man.'”

Tyrese Gibson battles to save mankind in “Legion”

Fighting to save humanity from an apocalyptic end is just another day in the life of Tyrese Gibson.  The singer and actor stars in the movie, “Legion,” which opens this Friday.  Gibson plays the character Kyle, one of the strangers trapped in a diner taking a stand to save mankind.
 
Gibson said he related to his character Kyle who is a divorcee and drew on his own life experiences for the role.  The performer’s 1½ -year marriage ended in divorce last summer and he shares custody of his two-year-old daughter, Shayla.
 
“I went into my real feelings on Kyle,” he said.  “He’s on his way to court dealing with a nasty divorce and dealing with custody issues.  This guy just falls over because he’s lost.  He needs directions to where he’s going.  He gets sucked into the matrix.”

‘Four Brothers’ sequel in the works

Get ready for a sequel to the 2005 movie, “Four Brothers,” which starred Mark Wahlberg and Tyrese Gibson, reports The Hollywood Reporter.  The movie, directed by John Singleton, focused on four adopted brothers (Wahlberg, Gibson, Andre Benjamin and Garrett Hedlund) who reunite to find their mother’s murderer.
 
Wahlberg came up with the idea for a sequel along with the original movie writers.  No word yet if the other original cast members will sign up for the sequel “Five Brothers.”

‘Precious’ garners eight NAACP Image Award nominations

The accolades keep coming for the movie ‘Precious,’  which has already received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations.  The film now has received eight NAACP Image Award nominations for director Lee Daniels, star Gabourey Sidibe and supporting actors Mariah Carey, Mo’Nique, Paula Patton and Lenny Kravitz. “Precious” was also nominated for outstanding motion picture and outstanding independent film.

Other movies nominated include “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” and “The Princess and the Frog.”  HBO drama “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” starring Jill Scott and defunct comedy “Everybody Hates Chris” are also nominees.

The 41st annual NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live on Fox Friday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. central time.

Forest Whitaker and Regina King plan ‘Our Family Wedding’

Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia star in “Our Family Wedding,” a movie about fathers who butt heads as their children (actors Lance Gross and America Ferrara) plan to marry.  The flick is due in theaters this March.  Regina King, Anna Maria Horsford, Taye Diggs, and Charlie Murphy also star in the film.

‘Precious’ receives SAG nominations

The movie “Precious” keeps racking up accolades.  After recently gaining Golden Globe nods, now the movie has been nominated for Screen Actors Guild awards.  Comedian Mo’Nique is up for a Outstanding Supporting Actress Award, while Gabourey Sidibe is up for Outstanding Actress. The two also received Golden Globe nominations.  Congratulations!

Disney movie ‘Princess and the Frog’ is no. 1 at box office

The first Disney animated film with an African-American princess came in no. 1 this weekend with $24.2 million in box office receipts.  I’ve heard mixed reviews from critics and movie goers that the plot needs work and that there is too much happening.  So what did you think of the movie?
