D’Angelo, who has been a Prince fan since he was five years old, became emotional during the performance.

R&B singer D’Angelo released a statement through his manager Lindsay Guion about his arrest Saturday for allegedly offering an undercover policewoman $40 for oral sex.
 
“We know there is a lot of speculation in regard to the arrest of D’Angelo in New York City this past weekend. We would like his fans and the public at large to know that D’Angelo has pled not guilty—and is contesting the allegations made against him. Also know that, he is in good health and extremely excited about his forthcoming new album.
 
D’Angelo would like to personally thank all of his fans for the outpouring of concern, and appreciates if all would allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions.”

D’Angelo Arrested for Soliciting Cop for Oral Sex

Say it ain’t so!  Just when you’re looking forward to the upcoming album from R&B singer D’Angelo, he gets arrested for allegedly soliciting an undercover police officer for oral sex.
 
Born Michael Archer, the Grammy winner was driving his Range Rover through New York City’s West Village Saturday about 2:30 a.m. when he allegedly offered a woman he thought was a prostitute $40 to perform the sexual act.  The 36-year-old was arrested and charged with solicitation.  He also had $12,000 in his vehicle.

Will D’Angelo work with Prince on his new album?

D’Angelo’s new album is set to be released this summer, but it is unclear whether Prince will be a collaborator as earlier reported by Suite 411. 

“We have spoken to Prince, Mark Ronson and John Mayer’s camps,” manager Lindsay Guion tells Billboard.com. “But nothing has been confirmed at this time.”

Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green, Raphael Saadiq, Q-Tip and Roy Hargrove will work with the R&B singer on his album since 2000.

D’Angelo to work with Prince on new album

This summer, D’Angelo is set to release his first album in nine years entitled, “James River.”  D’Angelo will also collaborate with several artists on the release including Prince, Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green and Raphael Saadiq.

D’ Angelo will also tour this summer in the United States and Europe, reports Billboard magazine.
